Khris Nedam

Public school teacher, founder, Kids 4 Afghan Kids, Livonia, Michigan

Khris Nedam and her students were moved to action when, during a class presentation on Afghanistan, they saw the daily challenges their peers in Afghanistan faced.  Determining that education was the key to a better life, they established Kids 4 Afghan Kids with the goal of building a new school.

As Khris and her students began fundraising and planning for the school, they learned that the Afghan children and their families also needed access to health care, so a health clinic across from the school was added to their plan. Shortly afterward, Khris' students decided to also dig a deep water well to provide their Afghan peers with fresh drinking water.

As the project grew, so did the need for funding.  That's when Khris decided to dedicate all the proceeds from her Quixtar business to Kids 4 Afghan Kids.

"The best aspect of owning my own Quixtar business is that I can put as much effort into it as I want to," explains Khris.  "I can do it along side of teaching and raising my two daughters and I'm able to earn money for our Afghan project.  That's the most exciting thing for me."
